The topic of this year’s, fourth edition, starting in the first weeks of April, is the Warsaw of Films. In order to present Warsaw from the perspective of the city’s connection with cinematography, the organisers will show the buildings and spaces relating to the life and artistic creation of prominent people of the cinema. As each year, visiting the private places will be the main point of the programme. – This time we will invite you to the apartments and ateliers of actors, directors, film poster designers and other important artists from the world of cinema – the organisers say. – During the accompanying walks and lectures we will describe the valuable architectonic objects as well as unveil the secrets of how the film masterpieces were created, presenting the spaces where the artistic and social life with all their stories and anecdotes was happening. After the destructions of the war, the Warsaw under reconstruction became inspiration for numerous cult movies from the Polish People’s Republic period. The buildings, today deemed as essential for the city’s architecture heritage, used to be the décor for many of those movies. That is why this year’s Festival programme includes screenings of several films. The interdisciplinary character of the event relates to several domains of culture: architecture, visual arts, literature and film, and it will help understand how the material and non-material elements of the above are shaping the image of Warsaw.
The visiting of the apartments during the Festival will be held during two April weekends: 9-10 and 23-24 April.
Additionally, there will be screenings of films which commemorate the capital’s architecture and many walks and lectures about Warsaw in cinematography.
