We decided to make an issue about water, because it’s summer, because it’s hot, because it’s a basic, though rarely exposed element of every meal. We dug deeper and deeper and found out some interesting information. That water came from the space, from the stars and the moon strongly messed up in Earth’s oceans. That in health resorts rules not only Aesculapius, but also Eros. And above all that water is a secret ally of women who are able to use the element to achieve their goals, as in the brilliant “Drowning by Numbers” by Peter Greenaway recalled by Dorota Chrobak.
A long time we were looking for a person who could be our aquatic hero – until we found Natasha Caban, sailor who sailed alone around the world. She won our hearts from the first minute of our conversation: by honesty, openness, strength, sense of humor and distance to herself. We sailed her yacht through the Mazury lakes, asking about what she ate, what she feared, what the most difficult moments were, and which ports were the most beautiful during her oceanic adventure.
Two other girls took us on a walk along the Atlantic coast, showed how the seaweed is collected and how it can be used in the kitchen. Fascinated by its taste and form we decided to deepen our knowledge – we created our seaweed atlas.
This issue became very feminine (check our heading authors). Fortunately, at the end of work our telephone rang and a friendly curator suggested we eat a breakfast with Etgar Keret. We are ambitious, so we prepared the breakfast ourselves, bearing in mind that the writer is a vegan since he was 5. What we served, you can find out in this issue. And finally … more water!
