GINGERBREAD FROM MIREILLE

These particular gingerbread sweets tempt us with their taste since 1980. From the doorstep of the sweet Pain d’epices boutique greets the admirers Mireille Oster’s motto: “The only way to resist the temptation, is to yield to it” – after reading it, visitors will be even more confident that they are in the right place, and those on the diet can take a day off. Gingerbread factory is located in the heart of Petit-France, in the center of Strasbourg.

Mireille Oster is responsible for the leading into temptation, those on a diet as well as those with a sweet tooth. Her recipe for eccentric sweets has been passed down from one generation to the next. It is contrasted with modernity and has a large pinch of spice and passion for travel. These two things are inseparable. The love for both Mireille wants to give to her customers in her product. They take the customers on an exotic journey: Angelic Bread, Chinese Nights, Eden, 7 Spices, Love, Chestnuts, and Sour Cherries are just some of them. Composition and taste of her gingerbread is a real voyage. In addition to traditional spices such as cinnamon, ginger, star anise or chocolate, you can find goji berries, rum, amaretto, bananas, candied melon and oranges, dates, figs and sour cherries. The unusual blend of tradition and modernity determined the success of the Strasbourg sweets.

 

Mireille Oster’s relationship with pastry is definitely a marriage of love, and its fruits are variations on the traditional gingerbread, inspired by the author’s numerous journeys. Pain d’epices, treats of all kinds, are probably the most romantic and French gingerbread cookies in the world. For confirmation, a few words from Mireille about one of her specialties with a meaningful name Déclaration d’amour, that is Declaration of Love: “A cookie decorated with five candied orange slices will let you to make a declaration of love, just as they do it in France: I love you, a little bit, strongly, passionately, madly … “
