Beaujolais – wine for the impatient?

Every third Thursday in November, bottles of a young wine called beaujolais nouveau are opened all over the world. Most notably in Japan, a rosé version of this wine has even been created especially for the market there. A young wine, only just bottled, but brilliantly promoted. What is behind the phenomenon of this wine festival? Aneta Zabiegała set off on a Beaujolais Nouveau trail to the south of France, and persistently wandered between Mâcon and Lyon to see if, in addition to young, easily drinkable and unmemorable wines, it was possible to find interesting, avant-garde and outstanding Beaujolais there. And that's how she ended up with some of the most interesting wine producers in the area. Follow in its footsteps to the sunny south of France, visit the vineyards and drink the outstanding bottles created from the gamay variety (and more).

Irini’s triple life

How many incarnations can one person have? How many adventures to experience? Irini Karayannopoulou, Greek painter, argues that the more the better. She makes up biographies of herself, how a pirate appropriates adventures and works other artists, rebelling against the commercial use of the female body and image. And it is there one of the most enthusiastic, joyful people we know. We invite you to a meeting with the Greek geyser of fantasy and optimism. We interviewed us in March 2021, but now the Greek artist is opening two exhibitions in Warsaw during the Warsaw Gallery Weekend.

Tokyo streets are full of endless culinary and drinking establishments, having a strong enough voice and uniqueness to stick out is always a challenge. Located in between Hiroo and Ebisu stations - Gem by Moto has succeeded to do this over the past few years. A Sake bar with the utmost respect to Sake on the one hand but with a huge freedom Marie Chiba who opened the place in 2015 took for herself for redefinition and expression in any element and aspect relating to Sake and the way we enjoy it. Collaborating with the most interesting younger generation of Sake brewers in Japan.

Souvenirs from the Seaside

Fridge magnets, whistling seagulls, seashell caskets or bracelets with burnt letters with your name – this sort of images pop up in my head when I think of the “souvenirs from the seaside”. It turns out that luckily, one can see the light at the end of this camp tunnel. “Zatoka –  autorskie pamiątki” (Eng. “The Bay – Original Souvenirs”) is an initiative launched by Fundacja Palma. The organisers invited a group of artists from the Tri-city to design souvenirs from the seaside. Finally, you can bring something from your holidays that won’t feel awkward!

Gluten Heaven in Żoliborz

When Monika Walecka bought a family apartment in the Warsaw district of Żoliborz, she started dreaming of opening a local bakery where she would bake bread for her neighbours. She found her place on the ground floor a modernist 4th Warsaw Colony building from 1930. One of the neighbours, Maurycy Gomulicki who lives in the same building, designed a logo for the bakery – a mermaid holding a baguette. This is how "Cała W Mące" (Eng. “Flour-covered”) was born, a bakery that stole the hearts of many people of Warsaw, not only Monika’s neighbours.
